LIVERPOOL PITUITARY SUPPORT GROUP NEWSLETTER OCTOBER2009

    Hello everyone.

The October meeting was another lively one with 46 members and 16 student doctors in attendance.

We also welcomed 2 young people , Frederick Pilling ,son of Matthew and Sarah and Freya the new daughter of Chris Morgan the endocrine nurse. You will be glad to know that both were on their best behaviour.

We had apologies from Sue and Eric Howard who were with Erics uncle in Warwick. They were helping him celebrate his 90th birthday (uncle, not Eric). Also Sue Birtley and Michelle Murphy who were under the weather and Amanda Briggs , Sheila Ainsworth and David and Marjorie Brazendale.

We welcomed 3 new members Lesly and David Findlay (Lesly is the patient, she has accromegaly) and Anest Williams and Graham Daulby.

    DOCTORS IN THE HOUSE

The meeting started a little late as we had to re-locate to the far corner of the room as a clinic was in progress in our usual meeting area.

Never the less we soon got paired off with the students .

The doctors sat chatting with a patient and carer for about 15 minutes and then moved around to another patient.

Hopefully this gave them the opportunity to learn some about communicating with , and listening to, a good selection of people.

Maggie ,the doctors "leader " has given Hilary some good feed back from the students so they enjoyed more than the excellent buffet laid on by Kathy.

    T.V. STAR .

Our very own Pat McBride was invited to take part in Tonight With Trevor Mcdonald as a follow up to his Russell Watson programme.

Pat is in a 4 minute segment where she had the opportunity to put across the point of view of the pituitary patient.

The programme goes out on Friday the 27th November at 8pm on ITV.

    CHRISTMAS BASH

The November meeting (28th) will be our last of this year with just the night out in December.

If you have signed up for this then Sue Howard needs your deposit and menu choice as soon as possible. You can contact her on 0150 933 5561
